PTE Academic – The Top Contender For English Language Assessment Tests

PTE Academic

If you have decided to study abroad, it is crucial for you to prepare yourself for the various examinations that lie ahead. One of the most important examinations in English for getting admission to reputed colleges and universities abroad is the PTE Examination or the Pearson Test of English. This Test was launched in 2009 and since then it has gathered much repute for being a Standard English test for those students who wish to go abroad for foreign studies. However, the PTE Test should not be confused with TOEFL or IELTS Tests that are also taken by students for foreign studies.

The PTE Test – An Overview

The PTE Test is a computerized test targeted for non-native speakers of English. There are two variants of this Test and they are PTE Academic and PTE General. Since the PTE Test has been endorsed by the GMAC, it is a huge success among the top business schools across the globe like The London Business School in UK, Yale University, Stanford Graduate School of Business in the USA, INSEAD in France and other esteemed academic names.

The PTE General Test was developed by the London University in 1982. This was before the Board merged with The Business and Technological Council or the BTEC to create Edexcel in 1996. The procedure of the PTE General Test is looked after by Edexcel while its test is accredited by QCA. The infrastructure of PTE General helps learners, teachers, universities and employers to assess the qualification in levels. The Council of Europe developed this framework.

There is another variant of the PTE Test and it is called PTE Young Learners. This test is parallel with the PTE General and followed the Schema Theory. This Theory was used in former tests. This Test is targeted for toddlers in the age group of 6 years to 13 years. It is focused on the conversational skills of the children in day to day life. This Test does not concentrate on vocabulary at all.

The Pros of PTE

The structure of the PTE Test has several advantages that make it stand out from the IELTS and TOEFL Examinations targeted for students. IELTS deploys the Australian and British manner of English while PTE and TOEFL are focused on American English. When it comes to the acceptability of the PTE, no University shows disparity in these tests. IELTS Tests are more accepted in Europe and Australia while TOEFL in the USA. PTE is a newcomer and is often looked upon as the favorable alternative. The Test is making an outstanding success in the International arena primarily because it is being accepted by business schools. If you are keen to do your MBA, the PTE Test will ensure you get a competitive edge in the application and admission procedures. Since the test is computerized, it eliminates the possibility of human errors and the chances of being biased towards a specific student. In order to be aware of the Test patterns and more, it is prudent for you to opt for regular PTE coaching from a reputed Institute like us in India.
