About Trinity College Dublin

Trinity College Dublin was founded in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth 1. As Ireland’s University at world stage Trinity is known for its academic excellence. The historic campus of TCD is located in the heart of Dublin.Trinity is Ireland’s top ranked university.Trinity is ranked 27th in the World in terms of International Outlook and is the highest ranked university in Ireland.(Times Higher Education World University Ranking, 2018). Trinity has three faculties – Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences;Engineering, Mathematics and Science; and Health Sciences.

 

Campus & Campus Life

Trinity’s student life is vibrant and it goes beyond education.There are over 120 societies, 48 sports clubs and a lot of course specific social events. And everyone has heard about the world famous Trinity Ball that’s Europe’s largest private party. There’s also a freshers week that’s organized at the beginning of each academic year. On the campus you’ll see some fine old architectural buildings to modern ones. The eastern side of the college has the most modern developments arranged in three rows instead of quadrangles. In the year 2010 Forbes magazine ranked it as one of the most beautiful college grounds in the world.The library(Old Library) in TCD is the largest research library in Ireland and it has its own historic value & standard.

Accommodation

You can either choose from an on-campus accommodation or the accommodation at Trinity Hall/Kavanagh Court/Binary Hub.The on-campus accommodation is located in the central part of Dublin, it is a moments walk from the lecture, onsite security & maintenance is provided. There are a variety of room options for the students to choose from. Network connections, television points within living room, central heating system, etc. are among the basic facilities provided.

– Oscar Wilde (Poet, Journalist, Writer) – Oscar Fingal O’Flahertie Wills Wilde was an Irish author, playwright and poet. After writing in different forms throughout the 1880s, he became one of London’s most popular playwrights.
– Nathaniel Lande (Journalist, Inventor, Author) – Nathaniel Lande is a film director.
– Veronica Guerin (Accountant, Journalist) – Veronica Guerin was an Irish crime reporter who was murdered on 26 June 1996 by drug lords, an event which helped establish the Criminal Assets Bureau.
