About Monash University

Monash University is a public research university based in Melbourne, Australia. Founded in the year 1958. Monash is the second oldest university in the State of Victoria. The motto of the university is Ancora Imparo (“I am still learning”) that reminds everyone that the search for knowledge never ends. From a single campus at Clayton with fewer than 400 students, Monash has grown into a network of campuses, education centers and partnerships spanning the globe. With approximately 60,000 students (and 350,000 alumni) from over 170 countries, Monash today Australia’s largest university.

Monash is ranked in the top 100 universities worldwide – 84th in the world – according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (2018–2019)

Campus & Student Life

The learning spaces in Monash are designed to be adapted for a variety of active learning experiences and are equipped with the latest technology to meet the specific needs of staff and students. There are spaces for studio-based learning, open spaces that can be divided into semi-formal and informal spaces, break-out areas for student discussions, LCD screens for group work, and large whiteboards for brainstorming and problem solving – all designed to stimulate the student’s engagement in active learning.
The thing that is the most special about Monash is their desire to make a difference. Students will leave with a greater sense of purpose, a global outlook, and the skills and confidence to make a positive change – to their own life, and to the lives of those around them.
The university has a number of campuses, four of which are in Victoria (Clayton, Caulfield, Peninsula, and Parkville), and one in Malaysia. Monash also has a research and teaching center in Prato, Italy, a graduate research school in Mumbai, India and a graduate school in Suzhou, China. Monash University courses are also delivered at other locations, including South Africa. The university supports students so they have a memorable university experience. It’s a friendly university – no matter which campus you attend.

Accommodation

You can choose to stay either in homestays or Monash-approved accommodation providers within walking distance of the city campus. These are modern apartments, which offer students a bit more independence but still provide a safe environment for students under 18.
One such accommodation in the city campus is the Urbanest – Urbanest has an allocation of beds reserved exclusively for Monash students. Facilities provided at Urbanest include – 24/7 on-site team, Rooftop terrace with BBQs, Rooftop cinema room, Study rooms, Gym, Swipe-card access, Card-operated laundry, Secure bike storage, TV and Games Area,iMac Stations, etc.
