About:
The University of New South Wales is a Public Research University Situated in Sydney. The University was originally named as New South Wales University of Technology which was changed to University of New South Wales in 1958. In 1948, the classes began with only 46 students in programs that include civil engineering, mechanical engineering, mining engineering and electrical engineering. Initially, UNSW operation from the inner Sydney Technical College city campus, however in 1951, the Parliament of New South Wales passes an Act for construction to provide funds and permit buildings to be constructed in Kensington where the University is now located.
Campus and Campus Life
The main campus of UNSW where most of the faculties are located is in Kensington, Sydney. UNSW Arts and Design is situated in the inner suburb of Paddington while UNSW Canberra at ADFA is Located in Canberra. The University has additional campus. It also has field Stations in Randwick, Coogee, Botany, Dee Why, Cowan, Manly Vale, Fowlers Gap, Albury, Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour as well as at Bankstown Airport. The university has a number of theatres and music venues which are often available to public for hire, the UNSW Fitness and Aquatic Center provides fitness and health services to the both, students as well as the general public. UNSW has a number of residential accommodation options available, including Phillip Baxter College, Basser College, Fig Tree Hall, Colombo House, to name a few. Arc@UNSW is a not for Profit company and a student organization at the University of South Wales. Arc comprises of 3 constitutional bodies; Student Development Committee which supports clubs, volunteer programs, courses and activities. The Postgraduate Council that represents the postgraduate community at UNSW and an Elected Student Representative Council. The Arc also has its own Publication called the BLITZ. It typically covers the on goings of in and around the campus, conducts and publishes interviews and stories relating to current student affairs.
